It is increasingly more important for teachers to learn what Dyslexia is and is not and how to create a learning environment that accommodates for students with Dyslexia. The course will outline the different types of Dyslexia and the impact those neurological differences can have in the classroom.

The Joy and Freedom of Flexible Assessment

In this course, participants will develop a firm understanding of how standards, curriculum, and assessment align to ensure students are learning skills and content AND showing teachers in multiple ways how they have learned skills and content. Just as there are many methods of instruction, there are also many methods of assessment. Providing students a variety of ways in which to show what they have learned provides all learners with the opportunity to use their strengths to show learning. Developing and grading assessments that truly focus on the standards being taught provides teachers with the freedom and flexibility to assess learning in many ways. This course allows teachers time to reflect on common assessment practices and consider all the ways we COULD be gauging student growth and learning.
